Saving the format to a different format.

first of all I will go to file and then save as. 

like so. 

you will then come up with this box and it automatically saves it to JPEG. JPEG is a format that doesn't take up a lot of memory as it compresses the images and doesn't save every single part of the image and it wouldn't be as good as quality as another format you could save it to such as TIFF. To change it to a different format to save it to you press the drop down menu where it says format and you will come up with this menu below. 

then you can change the format which in this case is JPEG. 

If you want your image saved as high quality you can save it to the format TIFF. This doesn't compress the image and saves every single detail of the image as it uses more pixels than JPEG. It also saves all the layers of the image, but on the downside it takes up a lot of memory but I will only use this for my final images.

you can also save the image to the format photoshop. The only problem with saving it to this, you can only open it if you have the same photoshop as the one you have saved it to, otherwise you wont be able to open it. The good thing is that it saves it to a high quality and doesn't miss any detail out. So if you are needed this image out and about where there isn't the same version of photoshop you will be better of saving it to TIFF.

When you have saved it to what you want to you will come up with this box, always save it to maximum quality. and press okay.
